One AI Search Isn’t the Whole Picture

Seeing your estate planning firm in an AI answer is encouraging. Missing from one answer can be frustrating. Neither observation, on its own, tells the whole story.

Start with the search

“Who are the best estate planning attorneys in my city?” and “Who can help with trust administration in my city?” ask different questions. Record the wording, city, platform, and date so each result has context.

Keep the test conditions consistent: record the account state, location settings, and whether search is enabled. Note any changes between runs so the comparison remains useful.

Look at the pattern

Compare several relevant searches. Note which estate planning firms appear, their order of mention, and the sources cited. A first mention, a later mention, and no mention are distinct observations; a useful report makes that difference clear.

Compare over time

Repeat the same set of searches and keep the earlier results. That gives you a consistent basis for reviewing progress instead of relying on a single screenshot.

AI mentions measure visibility within those tested answers. They do not, by themselves, measure client enquiries, consultations, or retained matters. Read the results with that distinction in mind.
